Haverhill Choral Society wants new members

Haverhill Choral Society is keen to attract new members and is inviting people to come and join in at an open rehearsal on Monday (January 14).

The open evening will begin at 7.30pm and be at the drama studio of Samuel Ward Academy.

The group has around 60 members and performs a variety of music.

No audition is necessary and those who cannot read music will still be welcome.

The group’s highlight of 2012 saw them joined by Sudbury Choral Society to perform Verdi’s Requiem at Bury St Edmunds Cathedral in May.

In November the group joined other performers at Sturmer Hall for an evening of remembrance, and the society’s year concluded with an appearance at Ickworth House to sing carols.

The society started rehearsals on Monday (January 7) for a Spring Concert at the Old Independent Church on April 27, which will include works by Benjamin Britten, Bernstein and Faure.
