The winner of the Haverhill Echo Salon of the Year has been revealed - much to the delight and surprise of the recipient of the award.
Eight weeks ago the Echo launched the competition, asking the public to put forward their votes for the salon they thought most deserving of the title.
Six weeks later the postal and text votes ceased and once all the nominations had been totted up Creation Hair Studio, in Gloucester Road, came out on top.
Owner Stacey Hall expressed her surprise at winning the accolade ahead of the likes of D:fine, which has salons in both Haverhill and Clare and the other salons that, unlike her’s, occupy town centre premises in Haverhill.
Stacey, who opened Creation Hair Studio 12 years ago this October, said: “I am over the moon. i didn’t expect it at all.
“We are like a little community up here and all of our customers can just walk in and talk to anybody.
“We get good support from people because we are a family friendly salon.
“Some people just come in and have a chat and a coffee.
A lot of people come in and say you wouldn’t know who owns the salon because there is none of that ‘I’m the boss and I want you to see I’m the boss.
“We are all friendly, you walk in during the day and everybody talks to you.”
Over the course of the Salon of the Year competition the votes were submitted and a shortlist drawn up.
The runner up was D’n’A Hair Studio in Mill Road, Haverhill and in third was Sonia’s Hair and Beauty in Queen Street, Haverhill.
The other short listed salons were (Haverhill unless stated): ARevolution, in Queens Square, Cuts Unlimited, Queens Square, JJ’s Hair Nails and Beauty in Station Road, D:fine Hair & Beauty in High Street and Salon 56 in The Parade, Kedington.
