COMPENSATION PAYMENT

A Haverhill family was to receive compensation after mistakes made by electricians left them without heating overnight and a leaky ceiling.

The electricians were contracted by Havebury Housing to rewire the home of Caroline Dell and Sean McDermott, of Fallowfield Court.

The electricians drilled through a water pipe, causing water to flow through the ceiling of the family’s entrance hall and utility room. Havebury said it was an ‘isolated incident.’

GOLF CLUB EXPANSION

Haverhill Golf Club, which had more than doubled its membership in ten years since it became an 18-hole course, wanted to expand the catering and dining facilities at its clubhouse.

St Edmundsbury Council’s cabinet had been recommended to increase its loan to the club by a further £150,000 to pay for the extension.

The club wanted to build an extension to be able to seat 100 people. The main bar area was used for diners but it halved its capacity in the process.
