Haverhill’s MP Richard Spring laid out his vision of how the town centre should develop - and it included turning Gurteens factory site into London’s trendy Covent Garden.

Mr Spring told members of the town’s newly-formed Chamber of Commerce that it was time to take a quantum leap of imagination to how the town could be.

POLICE VOW

Police in Haverhill vowed to step up their fight against anti-social behaviour in the town.

More resources were pledged to help the police in their quest, including a second video camera and a police car fitted with CCTV equipment.

The plans were outlined by Haverhill sector commander, Inspector Mark Jepson, at a meeting of Haverhill Town Council.

He said there were also plans for police officers and volunteer youth workers to work together in talking to the town’s youngsters to prevent any potential problems before they happen. Including patrols of the town’s skatepark.
