Cllr Mabon Dane, the founder of Haverhill Representative Alliance, was arrested on suspicion of making an indecent image of a child under 16.
He was arrested in an early morning raid at his home in Withersfield Road and taken to Haverhill Police Station for questioning.
He was later released on bail and was due to return to the police station in October.
Villagers in Kedington showed their appreciation for the 32 years of service given by postwoman Sheila May by presenting her with a DVD player.
Sheila, who celebrated her 60th birthday just a few days earlier, admitted she was ‘surprised’ by the gesture.
The Post Office also presented her with a camcorder.
Haverhill town councillors were forced to make further budget cuts of £3,500 to pay for an investigation into the town council’s accounts.
The cuts were announced just two weeks after the council made £5,000 of cuts in preparation for the inquiry, which was called by Cllr Mabon Dane.
