A Haverhill-based ventilation and window hardware business celebrated its 40th anniversary recently.

Titon, based in Falconer Road, has championed innovation and been working with major UK house builders to provide energy efficient products throughout the last four decades.

To commemorate the milestone, Titon founder and deputy chairman John Anderson was presented with a photographic book chronicling the firm’s history.

“We are obviously delighted to celebrate our 40th year of trading and doing our bit for the local economy,” said Mr Anderson. “When we started out from just a garden shed, I never imagined we would probably the largest manufacturer of window vents in Europe.

“According to our records, Titon has employed over 1,300 people since 1972 – with approximately 1,000 of them being based at Haverhill. But we are not going to rest on our laurels, we want to build upon our success and continue to help installers and specifiers find the very best ventilation systems. Here’s to another 40 years of success.”

Titon currently employs 170 people throughout its three specialist divisions, each of which focus on its core market areas: Timber and PVCu, Aluminium and Ventilation Systems.

These divisions have their own dedicated sales teams which cover the whole of the UK. They are supported from the head office in Colchester with full administration and marketing departments.

Additionally, a the state of the art manufacturing base at Haverhill is home to the production and research and development departments.

It is testament to the longevity of the company that 28 of its current members of staff have been with the business for over 20 years – with 12 of them based in Haverhill

Titon manufactures and supplies ventilation and window products – ranging from its signature Trimvent background ventilator to window handles, locking systems and hinge systems, to powered ventilation products including whole house systems with heat recovery and extract fans.

Plus, as a manufacturer, the firm also invests heavily in research and development, which enables it to use the latest technology to keep its products both innovative and cost effective.

Further to its activities in the UK, Titon exports its products to a range of overseas markets.

The USA market is supplied through its wholly owned subsidiary; Titon Inc.

Elsewhere, the company has appointed distributors within most major world markets, including a manufacturing plant in Korea.

Titon works closely with these distributors to supply its products effectively and to support them in providing the high level of service synonymous with the Titon brand.

The firm was founded on September 13, 1972, with celebrations held throughout the last couple of months.
