An impressive selection of activities were to be found laid on for visitors to the Picnic in the Park when it took place at East Town Park in Haverhill last Wednesday (Aug 13).

The day was jointly organised by Haverhill Town Council and St Edmundsbury Borough Council’s parks department and was the latest in the series of Community Fun Days being held during the school summer holidays.

Funding was also provided by ONE Haverhill and Havebury Housing Partnership.

The borough council’s park rangers were on hand to run a workshop in which children were able to use what nature provided to create their own miniature gardens.

Children were given the chance to try out some circus skills, or test their sense of musical rhythm and timing by joining in with a drumming workshop.

There was also archery held on neighbouring Motts Field, equipment was provided by Abbeycroft Leisure Services and a number of other workshops and activities were available to try.

Picnic in the Park follows on from previous events this summer - all provided for free and all on Wednesday - the Big Day Out and the Chalkstone Fun Day.
