Westfield Primary Academy in Haverhill launched their next International Primary Curriculum topic, Dinosaurs, with a special visit last week from Mitch Price, The Reptile Man.

Mitch, who runs The Reptile Experience in Cambridge, brought a variety of creatures including an enormous snake. The children in KS2 were fascinated and bravely allowed the snake to lie across their laps.

The children also were allowed to handle tarantulas and a variety of small reptiles and were enthralled by Mitch’s wide knowledge of the creatures in his zoo. After a morning of different activities the children were ready to start on their extended homework, ‘Prehistoric Park.

As is usual at Westfield the KS2 children in years three and four will work on their projects and will present them to the rest of the school in June.

This year, with dinosaurs being the theme, who knows what they will enthrall the rest of the school with.

Fortunately, Mitch will be bringing his expert knowledge and has volunteered, with a little arm-twisting, to judge the children’s work.
