Haverhill Round Table has begun it’s Christmas sleigh collections in the town and surrounding villages.

The annual fund-raiser will also see the unveiling of Santa’s brand new sleigh.

Sean Proctor, table chairman, said: “This is our most significant period of fund raising.

“During December, we raise significant funds which over the past year have paid for, among others, our old people’s Christmas party for 250 guests, as well as a very significant contribution to the new East Town Park Play area.

“The sleigh has been built from scratch primarily by one of our members, Dave Imrie. “His attention to detail, and the ability for kids to climb in, try the naughty or nice meter, press some buttons and even speak directly to Santa’s workshop will be a real treat for them.

“We’ve no doubt there’s not a similar sleigh anywhere else in Suffolk.”

The sleigh visits Chapel Drive, Haverhill tonight (Thursday), late night shopping tomorrow, Haverhill High Street on Saturday, Hawthorne Road on Tuesday and Boyton Hall estate Wednesday.

It also visits Steeple Bumpstead on Thursday, Haverhill High Street on Saturday, Kedington on the 18th, Roman Way, Haverhill on the 19th and Haverhill High Street on 22nd.
