The U13 Boys Basketball Team from Samuel Ward Academy has been crowned champions of Suffolk at the end of a season that has seen them remain unbeaten.

The team firstly topped its regional group to reach the Western Area semi-finals.

It then beat IES Breckland to reach the final against Gt Cornard Upper School, coming out on top in a tough game to become Western Area Champions.

In the first round of the Suffolk County finals the team faced Copleston High School from Ipswich and won 48-33.

They went on to face a rematch against Gt Cornard in the final– a nerve racking affair that proved very tactical and triumphed 32-26 to complete the season unbeaten as Suffolk County Champions!

The boys are now through to the regional finals, where they will represent Suffolk.

Tujan Sari, PE teacher at Samuel Ward Academy, said: “I am so proud of our boys and their dedication.”

The winning squad: Chidera Nkem Paul, Chino Nkem Paul, Josh Kershaw, Jordan Hopkins, Andrew Quarell, Daniel Cordwell, Callum Mclean, Jason Carpender, Jon Burrell, Elliot Clarke, Tyler Bell, Brandon McKay, Nick Montana, Oliver Cooper, Daniel Wallage and Finley Dray.
