Haverhill singer Dale aims to hit the right note
The 20-year-old describes the song as pop dance in genre and although it is slightly influenced by one of his favourite artists, Calvin Harris, the track is, says Dale, ‘a bit more melodic.’
From beginning to end, the process of creating the track was not a long one, as Dale explained: “If you work on it solidly you can do these things over a few days, but it takes a lot of work.”
Any money Dale, who is now in the second year of a three year Music Production degree at the University Campus Suffolk’s Bury site, makes from the release will be used to fund another single in the future as he looks to forge a career in music.
He said: “Even if I didn’t make it as an artist I would still be happy to write songs for others.
“I still enjoy music as a whole but the main aim is to be an artist and write songs myself, but I’m always happy to be in the background.”
Via his Twitter account @daleb1992, Dale has already got Red Dwarf and Death in Paradise star Danny John-Jules to retweet news of the song to his 24,000 followers.
Having reached a third audition for X Factor in 2007, falling one performance short of the televised stage, and reaching the final of the Idol UK 2008, where he made it to the last 23 from more than 10,000 entries, Dale is no newcomer to the vagaries of the music world.
He now has no immediate plans to return to TV talent shows, which he believes are weighted towards ‘entertainment value’ and fail to reward the most musically talented.
“I just thought I would do it myself and try to publicise it myself, “ he added. “I’ve been getting people to retweet it myself and just nagging people to death.”
Dale, who recorded his single at his home studio, also impressed last year at an audition for a record company, only to be told after travelling to London at his own expense that he would have to pay £1,200 for the right to be signed to its label.
