Haverhill’s Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) priorities of dealing with speeding cars and ‘boy racers’ down the High Street late at night and parking on pavements throughout the town need to assistance of other authorities to be solved.
The SNT holds quarterly priority setting meetings, with priorities dominated by illegal parking, mainly on the High Street.
Though the meetings are led by Inspector Peter Ferrie, other authorities such as the borough and county councils also comprise the SNT.
Pc Will Wright said: “We can’t own the problem of parking anymore – it needs to be owned by the Vision 2031, the High Street reorganisation, and all these bodies.
“It’s just a case of issuing tickets for us, which hasn’t been that impactive as it’s still happening, and if we stopped then in two or three weeks it would be back to the way it was.”
