Haverhill students take county seats in UK Youth Parliament

Samuel Ward Academy students Irna Manguerra Bridle (year ten) and Amie Frere have been elected to represent Suffolk on the UK Youth Parliament, while Douglas Lawes (year eight) has become a deputy member.

Irna won more votes (366) than any of the other 19 candidates standing for Suffolk seats, will be the member for West Suffolk and Douglas, who won 98 votes, will be her deputy.

Year seven student Amie secured 90 votes to defeat students from four other schools and become the member for South Suffolk.
