Haverhill Town Council showed its support for the staging of the town’s first ever half-marathon by awarding a grant of £500 to its organiser.
Councillors unanimously agreed to give the funding for the HaverHalf and Haver 10 races, which will take place on May 11, after hearing a presentation at Tuesday’s (Jan 28) town council meeting from Jack Tappin, the race director.
The race will raise funds for St Nicolas Hospice Care and has also been supported by Sanofi, who donated £1,325 towards it and all three Suffolk County Councillors, who each provided money from their locality budgets, amounting to £1,050.
Race entries are now being accepted. To enter go to entrycentral.com/haverhalf or pick up a form at Haverhill Arts Centre.
