Haverhill Town Council lodges Burton Centre appeal

Haverhill Town Council has submitted its appeal against Suffolk County Council’s decision to award the running of the Burton Centre to St Nicholas Hospice Care.

Town councillors agreed at their full meeting last week to take the step in protest at the county council’s decision, believing it to be flawed.

Town clerk, Will Austin, has also tabled a question to be asked at the full county council meeting on December 20.

It says: “What is the county council’s view in relation to the decision reached by its corporate property programme board in respect of the disposal of the Burton Centre, Haverhill, and what is its response to the points made in the town council’s letter of 29 November appealing the decision.”
