Heart patients in Haverhill will be able to access specialist diagnostic tests closer to home when a new cardiology clinic launches next week.
West Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust will hold its first open access echocardiogram (cardiac ultrasound) clinic at Haverhill Health Centre next Thursday morning (March 13).
The clinic will take place on the second Thursday of every month, and will give patients who have been referred for the test by their GP the chance to have the echo closer to home.
It is hoped the new service will increase convenience and cut travelling for patients in the Haverhill area.
Cathy Fuller, diagnostic cardiology services manager at West Suffolk Hospital, said: “We want to provide as much care as we can closer to people’s home so that it is as easy as possible for them to access.
“We are really pleased that we have been able to introduce these new clinics in Haverhill and hope that local people find them useful.”
Any patient who wishes to have their diagnostic test in Haverhill should tell their GP when they are referred.
