More than 300 families enjoyed the sunshine, music and a picnic at the recent Key Stage Three summer fair and picnic held at Samuel Ward Academy.
The families arrived with their hampers to sit on the field with their picnic lunch and enjoy the lovely weather, listen to the brass band and look around the many stalls the pupils had worked so hard on.
These included the human fruit machine, name the bear, penalty shoot out, apple bobbing, design a donut, surprise in a jar, homemade lemonade and many more.
Delicious cream teas were also available, baked and served by the school’s catering students.
The day raised more than £1,200 for Samuel Ward’s House Charities; Help the Heroes, WWF & PLAN (a global children’s charity who work with children in the world’s poorest countries to help them build a better future). The atmosphere was lovely with everyone enjoying themselves and entering into the spirit of the afternoon.
The annual event is an excellent way of ensuring that parents and families feel part of the school community.
Samuel Ward thanked everyone that supported the event.
