Join a long distance trekker when he visits Haverhill
The people of Haverhill have the chance to show their support for a man who is walking 7,900 miles for charity when he visits the town on Saturday (March 23).
Andy Peddle is 4,500 miles into an 18-month walking odyssey to raise money for the Salvation Army’s work among the homeless and those who are the victims of trafficking.
The 70-year-old, who attends the Salvation Army in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, is due to arrive at the Salvation Army Hall in Chauntry Road at 10am and residents of the town are being invited to join him on his approach to his destination.
Haverhill’s Salvation Army officer, Captain Valerie Morgan, said: “Those who would like some exercise could accompany Andy on the final mile into Haverhill.
“We will meet at either the junction of Chalkstone Way and Sturmer Road at 9.30am or a few minutes later at the bottom of Hamlet road and walk with him to the hall for 10am, where we can listen to his story over tea or coffee.”
Mr Peddle began his epic journey on May 16 in the Shetland Islands and wants people to support him by doing their own mini sponsored walks from one mile and up.
