The jury in the trial of a former school caretaker accused of sexually abusing two

girls 40 years ago have begun considering their verdicts.

Earlier Robert Bambury, 75, had told Ipswich Crown Court that a string of

allegations against him were entirely untrue.

Banbury, 75, who was giving evidence at his trial, said he was unable to explain why

the girls had made their allegations in statements to the police.

Some of the offences are claimed to have been committed in a storeroom at Clare

Middle School and a gym while Bambury was showing one of the girls where he

worked.

Bambury, a married father of five formerly of Clare and now living at Wright Close,

Stowmarket, has pleaded not guilty to 17 offences.
