Youngsters will get the chance to learn winter outdoor survival techniques at an Explore Outdoor session at East Town Park and Nowton Park this February half term.

Delivered by qualified coaches, all activities take place around a camp fire and participants will take part in a number of activities including orienteering, archery, fire lighting, shelter building, and camp fire cooking.

Archery will be taking place at the Nowton Park sessions.

Amelia Epton, Sports Development & Physical Activity Officer, said: “Our outdoor activity programme, making the most of our local parks, is getting increasingly popular.

“Parents and children like the fact that they can keep active outside and learn new skills that they otherwise would not get to take part in.”

Each Explore Outdoor day runs from 9am to 5pm and costs £14 per person.

To book a session in Nowton Park, Bury St Edmunds on February 17 and 18 contact 01284 753496 and for Haverhill on Thursday, February 20 telephone 01440 702548. Children are required to bring warm clothing, a packed lunch, snacks and drinks.

All equipment will be provided.
