A teacher from Linton has spoken of his pride at completing yesterday’s (Sunday) London Marathon, his first ever and one that should net a charity more than £2,000.
Tony Kelly, who teaches at Linton Village College, finished the marathon in a time of 4:26:27.
He said: “It was tough in the heat but the wonderful crowds and the atmosphere got me round. Everything went according to plan for the first 15 miles and I was on course to get round in under four hours but I had nothing left in the tank.
“But I am still really happy to have completed my first marathon at the age of 52 and to have raised nearly £2,000 for my charity, Joliba Trust.
“I am confident that it will be over £2,000 by the time you go to press.”
More runners from the London Marathon will be featured alongside Tony in Thursday’s (April 17) Echo.
