Man arrested and bailed after police raid in Haverhill

A man was arrested and a weapon confiscated after police officers executed a search warrant at the living quarters of a hotel in Haverhill.

Officers from Essex Police arrived at the accommodation at the rear of the Woodlands Hotel in Coupals Road at 7am on Thursday, February 27 and arrested the man, who is unemployed, at 9am.

Police cars were seen parked nearby at the entrance to Haverhill Golf Club and at the Roman Way junction with Coupals Road.

A police spokesman said at the time: “A 42-year-old man from the Haverhill area has been arrested on suspicion of threats to kill, assault and criminal damage.

“He is currently being questioned by detectives at Braintree Police Station.

“A gas powered weapon has also been confiscated.”

Following the incident police officers remained stationed outside the property for a number of hours.

The police spokesman confirmed that following questioning of the arrested man by detectives he was released on police bail until March 27 pending further enquiries.
