Move over Angelina, you’re not number one anymore
A survey by Dimplex, the brand leader in electric space and water heating, has found that over 50 per cent of people would rather spend Valentine’s Day with their spouse or partner instead of a celebrity crush.
Of the survey respondents, nearly 47 per cent of men would choose their wife or partner over famous fantasies, while close to 53 per cent of women would choose their husband or partner.
The nearest competitor to their other half for men was Kelly Brook, with just 2.18 per cent of the votes, while for women, Daniel Craig was the most preferred option, with 3.92 per cent.
The survey, organised by Dimplex as part of a competition to celebrate Valentine’s Day, also looked at how people would most like to spend their Valentine’s Day evening; for just over 40 per cent of entrants nothing beats snuggling up in front of a fire, while nearly 37.5 per cent would rather have a romantic meal for two.
Only around two per cent want to spend Valentine’s Day having a night out on the town – showing that we are still all romantics at heart.
Finally, Dimplex asked entrants what would be their ideal Valentine’s Day gift, with nearly 60 per cent choosing a pampering spa retreat for two over a dozen red roses (18.73 per cent), with a new mobile phone coming in at only 12 per cent – again re-affirming that romance is still high on our agenda.
Karen Trewick, director of communications for Dimplex, said: “Our survey clearly shows that we are all a romantic bunch at heart, and the majority of us can’t think of anything better than spending Valentine’s Day snuggled up with our loved ones in front of a cosy fire.
“While we may wish sometimes to be living the celebrity lifestyle, it seems that when it comes down to it, those around us are the ones we really want to be with.”
