New business is helping to put the sparkle back into golf

Lisa Jackson and Darren Higham have set up a new business cleaning golf clubs.

A Haverhill golf club cleaning business has only been going for two months - but already it has helped out a Strictly Come Dancing champion.

Clear Swing Ultrasonic Golf Club Cleaning Services, set up by Lisa Jackson and Darren Higham, is a mobile valet service that uses a combination of technology and a personal finish to restore a whole set of golf clubs, including grips, in under ten minutes and all for just £5.

The business has the support of Haverhill Golf Club, the first venue it visited.

Since then Darren and Lisa, of Forties Close, Haverhill, have appeared at many golf clubs for corporate, society and charity days.

Among Clear Swing’s cleaning days was a charity day staged at Buckinghamshire Golf Club by former Strictly winner and cricket legend Darren Gough.

To clean the clubs a machine is filled with warm water and a small dose of mild ultrasonic detergent added.

The whole set of clubs go into the bath, grips down to start with as the first cycle is around 20 seconds, then the clubs are turned upside down and the heads go onto a one and a half minute cycle.

The clubs are then removed one by one, the grips dried by hand with a soft towel and any remaining stubborn dirt on the heads brushed easily away with a brass golf club.
