Over 55s are being enticed into Haverhill Leisure Centre with taster sessions and discounts.
Abbeycroft Leisure joined forces with Suffolk Circle, a group for over 50s, and the age related offer has bene extended.
Matt Hickey, health, fitness & physical activity development manager for Abbeycroft Leisure, said: “Suffolk Circle is a fantastic initiative to provide a network for people over 50 who want to meet new people and expand their social life. People are living longer and many don’t want to do the traditional activities of the senior clubs of old.
“They want to try new activities like zumba, go to the gym and socialise so by partnering with Suffolk Circle we will be widening the opportunities available to people who are approaching retirement but are far from old.”
Damien Ribbans, general manager for Suffolk Circle, said: “We are really pleased to be extending our work with Abbeycroft, and it’s great to form such strong partnerships with other social enterprises in the area. Since the initial trial of this membership, our members have fed back to us what has worked and what hasn’t.
“We have listened to these comments, and worked with Abbeycroft to come up with this even better offer.”
This Leisure membership offers people over 50 access to the gym and swimming at specified times and a selection of exercise classes at a really competitive price, at both the Haverhill and Bury St Edmunds Leisure Centres as well as access to the gym at Thurston Community College.
“They are particularly interested to hear from people who haven’t used these facilities for a while, or who may have health conditions that may restrict certain activities. “
