Two teenagers were approached by a man in a car who asked them to get in

A 94-year-old Haverhill care home resident has appeared in court today to admit committing sex offences more than 30 years ago.

Frederick Smith, of Place Court Care Home in Camps Road, today (Thursday) pleaded

guilty at Ipswich Crown Court to five separate offences.

Smith is charged with with four offences of indecent assault on a girl aged under 14 and one offence of gross indecency with a girl aged under 14.

The offences, all said to involve the same victim, were committed in Haverhill between 1972 and 1982.

Judge David Goodin told Smith that he would have to return to court on June 12 to be sentenced.

Smith will continue to be granted bail until his next court appearance, said the judge.
