Poundland will open in Haverhill High Street today (Thursday, August 2).
The discount store is occupying the town centre spaces left vacant by the departures of New Look and the YMCA charity shop.
Kelvin Fletcher – who playes Andy Sugden in ITV soap Emmerdale – will be at a fun day at the store on Saturday (August 4), from 10am to 1pm.
Kelvin will be posing for photographs with fans and signing autographs.
There will also be a DJ at the store throughout the day, from 9am to 4pm, on which there will be £160 of vouchers to be won.
Pundland promises to ‘be packed full of top brands and everyday essentials all at just £1 each’.
The Haverhill branch is one of 15 new stores being opened by the national chain.
Other stores include two in Liverpool and several in London.
Haverhill High Street has faced a number of closures recently, with New Look going early in the year and Bon Marché closing in February after parent group Peacocks went into administration.
That space was subsequently filled by YMCA, although that store did not last long.
Men’s fashion store @itude lasted a matter of weeks before leaving.
