Staff at Haverhill’s Sainsbury’s store visited a town-based charity group to see how its £500 donation will be put to use.

Gary McMaster, Jen Bowles and Alan Bull visited The Befriending Scheme’s Hub meeting at the Chalkstone Community Centre last Friday (16).

The donation came from Sainsbury’s Community Council budget after the charity applied for funding.

Ruth Barton, who runs the group, said: “We would like to say thank you very much as it makes a huge difference to what we can offer. We have booked the musicians Amp & Deck to do a full-day music workshop in September thanks to the funds.

“I know everyone is really looking forward to it. We asked them what they would like and that is what they wanted.

“Also thank you to Gary, Alan and Jen for taking the time to visit the Hub.”
