Schools minister says ‘well done’ to Haverhill secondary school

Schools minister David Laws has written a letter to Howard Lay, the head teacher at Samuel Ward Academy in Haverhill, to congratulate the school on its recent performance in the GCSE league tables.

Samuel Ward was the only secondary school in Suffolk to receive a letter from Mr Laws.

In it he said: “I would like to congratulate your staff, governors and pupils for their hard work and success and thank you for your leadership in continuing to drive towards high standards of educational achievement.”

Samuel Ward saw 71 per cent of its students gain five or more GCSEs at A* to C, including English and maths.
