Sex assaults increase in Haverhill

There has been a rise in the number of sexual assaults being reported to police in Haverhill.

There were four incidents reported to police last week – two happening in the week, and two historical incidents.

There was one attempted rape on Saturday (November 3) and one sexual assault on Friday (November 2).

In both cases men have been arrested and bailed.

One historical event occurred between 1975 and 1983 and another between 1972 and 1975.

Since April 1 there have been 24 sexual offences in Haverhill compared to 16 during the same period last year.

Including the surrounding villages there have been 27, compared to 19 last year.
