South Cambs bin collection dates for Christmas and New Year

South Cambridgeshire residents are being reminded about changes to the day their bins will be collected over Christmas and New Year.

Due to bank holidays, there will be changes to all bin collection dates for three weeks as follows:

Monday collections: two days later than usual during the first week of 2013

Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday collections: two days later than usual between Christmas and New Year and the first week of 2013.

Friday collections: three days later than usual between Christmas and New Year and the first week of 2013.

All collections between January 7 and 11 will be one day later than usual.

Collections will return to their regular pattern from Monday, January 14.

Festive bin collection schedules can be found in the centre pages of the winter issue of the South Cambs Magazine or at www.scambs.gov.uk/bincollection

Reminders will also be posted on Twitter and Facebook.

Cllr Sue Ellington, South Cambridgeshire District Council’s cabinet member for waste and recycling, said: “The way that Christmas falls this year means we’ve had to make more changes than usual to collection schedules, but our crews will still be out – including working on Saturdays – to make sure that everyone’s bins are collected.

“The amount of waste we collect during the festive season is higher than most other times of the year so don’t forget to recycle as much as possible in the green and blue bins and keep up our record of being one of the top recycling areas in the country.”
