Spring Clean Suffolk

People can make a real difference to the quality of their local environment during Spring Clean Suffolk fortnight.

The annual campaign will take place from Monday, March 25 to Sunday,April 7.

By organising or participating in a local clean up event, residents, businesses and community groups will help improve the look and feel of their neighbourhood and reduce the risks to human health and wildlife. It’s also an excellent opportunity to meet new people and engender community spirit.

The West Suffolk Waste and Street Scene Services team will provide organisers across Forest Heath and St Edmundsbury with litter pickers, refuse sacks and disposable rubber gloves and arrange for the collection and disposal of the rubbish collected.

Anyone wishing to organise a litter pick should contact the waste team at:

· Forest Heath District Council on 01638 719284

· St Edmundsbury Borough Council on 01284 757687.

The Spring Clean Suffolk campaign forms part of Suffolk County Council’s ‘Creating the Greenest County’ initiative which aims to respond to climate change and enhance the natural and historic environment.

Litter picks can be carried out at any time of the year. The waste team is always happy to hear from anyone wishing to organise a litter pick and will provide support and equipment.
