Teenage girls followed in Haverhill

Two 15-year-old girls were followed by a man as they walked down Eastern Avenue and into Beech Grove in Haverhill at about 4.15pm on Saturday, February 2.

The teenagers crossed the road four times, and the man crossed the road four times behind them before the girls called at a house to ask for refuge and reported it to police.

The man was about 35, tall, with a big build and brown hair. Anyone with information should contact Haverhill Police on 101 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.

Haverhill’s police chief, Inspector Peter Ferrie, said women should take precautionary measures when going out alone.

This includes avoiding alleyways or paths if possible, carrying a charge mobile phone and ensuring someone knows where you are going and what time you are due to arrive.
