Hockey action. Haverhill V Blueharts.

Haverhill’s troubled season continued as they crashed to a 3-1 home defeat by Blueharts – their eighth successive loss of the campaign.

Haverhill hockey captain Tina Bunch is hoping her side can pull away from the drop zone before Christmas.

On Saturday (November 3) they lsots 3-1 at home to mid table Blueharts.

They play at eighth placed Potters Bar on Saturday (November 10, midday start) before facing a must win trip to rock bottom Crostyx II.

Hertford’s win at Crostyx II saw them pull clear of the drop zone on six points, leaving Haverhill above Crostyx II only on goal difference.

Captain Tina Bunch said her side will now work more on their set piece routines in the hope of converting more chances.

“Short corners have been a reliable source of goals for us and we’ve also had chances from open play, but we’re not as slick as we can be,” she said.

“We’ve not really had a settled side so far but now we have everyone back I hope we’ll be at full strength this weekend.

“We have two away games now with the crucial one at Crostyx II and then three home games before Christmas, and we’re six points adrift now so we really need to make up some of that ground before Christmas to give ourselves a chance.

“Unfortunately we have got used to losing so we need to stop that sooner rather than later so we could really use a result at the weekend to give us some confidence before playing Crostyx II.”
