Tributes have been paid to two Haverhill men that died in separate road accidents on Suffolk’s roads on Sunday (December 15).

Peter James, 26, from Brybank Road, Haverhill, died on Sunday following an accident, in which his car crashed into a tree in Homefield Road on the junction with Moon Hall Lane.

His widow Lucy Jane, 23, said: “He was a brilliant husband who was always there for me, would know what to say at the right time and comfort me, so it’s really hard now.

“We had our whole future planned together so I’m just heartbroken to know he’s not here now.”

Chris Waters, 26, from Roman Way, Haverhill, was hit by a van while walking on the road after leaving a Christmas party at the Shoulder of Mutton pub in Assington, near Sudbury, leaving his family ‘absolutely devastated’.

A statement from Mr Waters’ family read: “We are absolutely devastated by the loss of our dear Chris – a kind and loving young man, who was loyal and generous with a big heart and a fantastic sense of humour.

“He had a wise head on young shoulders and impressed us all with his maturity and determination to be a fantastic father to Oscar.”
