Two occupants of a house in Wickhambrook were treated for smoke inhalation after a fire at their home in the village.

Fire crews from Wickhambrook, Haverhill, Clare and Bury St Edmunds, plus a command unit and support appliance from Ixworth were called to the house in Coltsfoot Green at 4.26am today (Wednesday, March 12).

On arrival they found a fire in an office on the first floor of the building and firefighters used six breathing apparatus and two hose reels to extinguish the fire and ventilate the building.

The incident was under control at 6.02am and crews remained on site until 8.20am to make sure everything was safe before returning to their bases.
