A Haverhill gym has teamed up with race organisers to offer discounted membership including race entry.

Real Bodies Health and Fitness, in Hollands Road, has sponsored the inaugural HaverHalf and Haver10 races and is now offering the special membership packages, which also include a training programme to get you ready for race day on May 11.

The joining fee is £17.99, with gym-only membership then £20 for one month, £30 for two and £40 for three.

Use of gym and classes is an additional £5 per month, and if picking a full membership package members can get 40 per cent off their first three months.

All of those packages include entry into either HaverHalf or Haver10.

The gym is open from 6.30am to 9pm weekdays and 8am to 2pm on weekends.

Gym manager Lee Button said: “As HaverHalf is something that’s new to the town we thought it was key for us to be involved and also get people carrying on with their exercise afterwards.

“It’s the first time something like this has come to the town and I think there will be a big uptake and a lot of newcomers and it will be good for us to promote it.

“Something like this has been missed over the years and Haverhill needs to be put on the map with a significant running event.”

HaverHalf and Haver10 will be held on May 11, setting off at 9.30am from the recreation ground in Camps Road.

Entry is £16 for HaverHalf (£14 for affiliated club runners) and £12 for Haver10 (£10 for affiliated club runners), with costs rising by £2 on the day.

Entry is free if you raise £100 – pay the entry fee and then submit the amount raised minus that fee.

There will be trophies and premium goody bags for first, second and third, first over 40, first over 60 (both male and female, both races).

All finishers will get goody bags and medals.

T shirts featuring the logo are available for £10.

All money raised goes to St Nicholas Hospice Care.

You can enter the race at entrycentral.com/haverhalf or by collecting a form Haverhill Arts Centre.

You can e-mail jack.tappin@gmail.com for an application for or to volunteer to marshal on the day.

Other race sponsors are Sanofi (Genzyme), Haverhill Town Council and Suffolk County Council, with further support from GreenAir Cars, Stylize Display Graphics, Perform Sports Therapy and Castle Manor Academy.
