A new campaign launched in Haverhill will provide residents with the practical support and advice they need to help them take their first steps towards a healthier future.

The ‘Suffolk Weigh-In’ is the latest campaign from Live Well Suffolk and encourages people to see for themselves the benefits of losing five percent of their body weight.

This can reduce the risk of serious health conditions such as heart disease, strokes and type2 diabetes.

The new 12-week programme is free to join and runs from Haverhill Leisure Centre.

The Haverhill pilot resulted in 100 percent of its participants achieving their target of a five percent weight loss.

The campaign supports the recent launch of the organisation’s successful adult weight management service, ‘Lose Weight with Live Well Suffolk’.

Each weekly session of the programme lasts 90 minutes and consists of an hour-long educational component, followed by a 30 minute exercise session. Participants have access to the leisure centre’s gym and swim facilities.

The ‘Lose Weight’ service is available for people with a BMI of over 30, or above 28 for those with a pre-existing health condition. Other eligibility criteria may apply.
