A woman has been taken to hospital after falling 12 feet into a concrete water culvert in the town centre.

The woman, who is in her 20s, fell into the culvert in Lordscroft Lane at about 10.40pm on Saturday (August 2).

A volunteer doctor and a paramedic from the Suffolk Accident Rescue Service (SARS) arrived quickly, along with a fire crew and the ambulance service.

The woman was rescued by firefighters and treated by the SARS team. She was then taken by ambulance to Addenbrooke’s hospital with a serious head injury.
