The libraries in Haverhill and Kedington are holding special events to promote World Book Night next Wednesday (April 23).

Author Ian McFadyen will be at Haverhill Library in Camps Road between 2.30pm and 3.30pm to discuss his crime thriller series and his latest book, Deadly Secrets.

To book a place and get more information call the library on 01440 702638 and to find out more about the author go to www.ianmcfadyen.webs.com.

Scouts and Girl Guides are being invited to go to Kedington Library, in Arms Lane, at 7pm to collect a free copy of The Recruit by Robert Muchamore.

The events are two of many being organised by Suffolk Libraries as part of its support for World Book Night, which runs annually to celebrate reading and the use of books across the UK.

It is co-ordinated by the Reading Agency and involves hundreds of thousands of books being given away for free with the aim of sharing a love of reading with people who don’t read for pleasure or own books.

For more details of Suffolk Libraries events go to www.suffolklibraries.co.uk and for more information about World Book Night and the books being given away go to www.worldbooknight.org.
