Mass zumba in Haverhill

More than 60 members of Haverhill Leisure Centre will take part in a mammoth zumba class in aid of the Mayor of St Edmundsbury’s, Tim Marks, chosen charity for the year REACH and Abbeycroft’s chosen charity St Nicholas Hospice Care on Sunday.

Led by popular instructors Claire Brown and Lesley Moore, the class will raise funds for REACH and St Nicholas Hospice Care, this year’s chosen charities of the Mayor of St Edmundsbury Cllr Tim Marks. The hospice is also Abbeycroft’s chosen charity for 2012.

REACH supports people in need in the Haverhill area through schemes such as the Foodbank, Furniture Bank, a debt counselling service and more, while St Nicholas Hospice Care provides care for the terminally ill both in Bury St Edmunds and with outreach work to surrounding areas, including Haverhill.

The Mayoress Margaret Marks will attend the event, which has sold out, on Sunday from 2pm to 4pm at the Centre’s sports hall.

The idea for the event came from feedback cards filled in by Centre members who said they wanted a Christmas party. After the mammoth Zumba session, members will celebrate with refreshments in the studio.

Mandy Felton, Abbeycroft’s Fitness Manager who organised the event, said: “Members told us they wanted to have a Christmas party and we were happy to arrange one in aid of charity. It very quickly sold out and members of all walks of life and ages will take place to keep active and give back to charity this Christmas.”
