Missing airman Corrie McKeague’s brothers yesterday made touching Mothers’ Day tributes to their mum Nicola Urquhart.

Mothers’ Day fell only two days after the six-month anniversary of the day Corrie, 23, went missing after a night out in Bury St Edmunds with colleagues from the RAF Regiment at Honnington.

Makeyan McKeague posted on Facebook: “I honestly cannot put into words how much this woman means to me. She is the strongest person I know and I’m so very proud to have her as my mum.

“The last six months have been difficult to get through and I have no idea how I would have gotten through it without you.

“You have guided me to be the man I am today and continue to help me grow to be a better person. I can only hope that whenever I have kids of my own I can be half the amazing parent you are.

“Thank you for being there for me when nobody else can.”

His brother Darroch posted: “Happy mothers day to the best mum in the world I don’t know what the hell I would do without you. “Thank you for everything you have done for me and especially for the past six months I honestly don’t see how I could get through all this without having you.

“I know Mothers’ Day isn’t complete without Corrie but just know all three of us love you so much and you truly are the best mum anyone could ask for.”

Nicola replied: “Thank you. I couldn’t be prouder.”

The search of the landfill site at Milton resumed this morning after a weekend break. On Friday Suffolk Police said the Health and Safety Executive will investigate what happened to Corrie if he is found there. Since the search began at the site at the beginning of March, 845 tonnes of rubbish has been searched.
