Haverhill Arts Centre is set to benefit from a new sound system in its theatre after the town council agreed to spend up to £10,000 on it.
At last Tuesday’s (29) council meeting it was revealed that the authority had spent £50,000 the projector several years ago and had then budgeted the cash to improve the sound system at a later date.
A recommendation was made for the council to approve locum clerk Bob Whittombe to get three quotes to replace the sound system and to provide costs keeping within the £10,000 budget.
Cllr Pat Hanlon said: “We have had this live system and (leisure manager) Nick Keeble told us it has been a tremendous success so hopefully we will get more people in and carry on and it will pay for itself in the end.”
