A Saturday morning children’s sports club started by a Haverhill coaching business is continuing to see its numbers rise since it was started 12 months ago.
Dellar Sports Coaching owner, Adam Dellar, started the Saturday Morning Multi-Sports Club about one year ago for children aged from five to 12.
It runs from 9am to 11am at Castle Manor Academy and costs just £4 for the two hours.
Adam said: “The numbers have slowly crept up through the last 12 months. It started with a small number and now we are getting 20 to 30 on a regular basis.”
Three to four sports are delivered at each session, and include either football, cricket, tennis, dodgeball, gymnastics, badminton, volleyball, basketball or athletics.
Three coaches are always on duty.
Three coaches are always on duty from a team made up of Adam, AFC Sudbury goalkeeper Alex Archer, Haverhill Rovers U/18 footballer Ty Alleyne, Ellis Wiffen and Ellice Hardy.
Adam added: “We open it to all kids, whether they are sports enthusiasts or whether they are just starting out in sports and the children get a choice because we are in two halls so they can move between halls, depending on what they like and we structure it so that it’s fun for the children and it’s not too lesson based, as in lots of drills and lots of time sitting about.
“We try to get them in games situation so they are learning while playing.
“It’s all about exploration whilst playing each sport and the children seem to like it, they really enjoy the method in which we coach.
“We get lots of positive feedback from parents and its something we wanted to introduce because it gives parents two hours in the morning to do whatever they like really.”
