Sir Jim Paice MP has welcomed the news that unemployment has fallen again in his constituency.
The number of unemployed claimants in South East Cambridgeshire is now 799.
This represents 1.3 per cent of the economically active population aged between 16 and 64.
Figures recently released by the Office for National Statistics show the number of unemployed claimants in the area is 503 lower than in March 2013 and 75 lower than in February 2014.
The constituency has one of the lowest rates of unemployment in Britain.
Nationally, the level of unemployment fell by 77,000 in the three months to February.
The national unemployment rate now stands at 6.9 per cent.
The South East Cambridgeshire MP said: “South East Cambridgeshire has consistently one of the lowest levels of unemployment anywhere in the country but that must not disguise the need to continue to build our economic recovery to help those who even here are still out of work.
“In particular we need more businesses to offer apprenticeships so that our young people can have a real start to their working lives.”
