Firefighters were yesterday (Sunday, Feb 9) called to a fire in the recycling area of a business in Duddery Hill in Haverhill.
Appliances from Haverhill and Wickhambrook along with the turntable ladder from Cambridge fire station attended the incident at 6.26pm.
The initial call indicated that a recycling unit was on fire but it was unknown if any risk from the materials involved existed.
Firefighters found that only domestic waste was involved in the fire, which was within a skip, and the turntable ladder was no longer required to attend.
The crews used two hose reel jets with four firefighters wearing breathing apparatus.
A crew of two breathing apparatus were also on standby at the fire, which was under control at 7.30pm.
