As temperatures climb and the countryside dries out for the first time this year, Suffolk Fire Service has asked parents to be on their guard against children playing with fire.

On their Facebook page they added: “Arson impacts on the environment, the public, responding services and is a danger to young people when fire play gets out of control.

“We would urge parents to be aware of their children’s whereabouts and be concerned if clothing smells of smoke or if minor burns are present without explanation.”

They also ask people to be on their guard against the risk of fires in open spaces.
