A Haverhill man took an ice bucket challenge with a twist this week.
Crowds gathered in Queen’s Square on Friday (August 29) as David Doughty, of The Gallery, had freezing buckets of ice water thrown over him while he attempted to sing a medley of Elvis songs.
Mr Doughty, who even dressed as the iconic rock star for the occasion, raised more than £50 for Addenbrooke’s hospital.
The money will go to the neurology and leukaemia wards that treated Haverhill woman Vera Jewell before her death in May.
“Everything we’ve raised today will go to Addenbrooke’s Charitable Trust,” said Mr Doughty. “The weather’s not too bad, it’s not too cold.”
Becky Norman, 28, was watching the challenge.
“I only found out he was doing this about 20 minutes ago,” she said. “It’s really good.”
