THREE played, three won is the current standing of Haverhill's Curry Cup team under the captaincy this year of Joe Davis.
Saturday’s match against Fynn Valley was an away game at Ipswich and resulted in Haverhill picking up three bonus points for the win, the final score being 12.5-8.5.

The visitors led 4.5-1.5 at lunch, following the morning foursomes but Fynn Valle
y edged the afternoon singles, taking seven of the available twelve points as the Haverhill tail failed to wag with the last three games being lost.

Graham Ashcroft was the hero of the hour as he negotiated the final hole skilfully to clinch victory for the team, this following on from an earlier ace at a par three hole.

The build up to this coming weekend’s Tolly Cobbold quarter final match away at Flempton was enhanced by Sunday’s President’s Putter result as two of the squad members captured top three places in this major club event.

Peter McLennan was first and Dareagh Whelan third as they sandwiched Marcus Macnamara into second spot.

Of the two matches played during the week both were victories for Haverhill teams.

The seniors’ result at home to Stoke By Nayland was 5-3 and the ladies away trip to Gog Magog was 3-1.

Lady Captain’s Charity Day at Coupals Road was once again very well supported with the winning team coming from Braintree Golf Club who comprised of Karen Thake, Carol Davies, Pat Souter and Colette Gleeson.

The runners up from Bury St Edmunds were Sadie Tricker, Bev Allen, Sue Brinkley and Sue Sandry.
