CLARE have had to pull out of the league and Sawston are taking their place in Division Two, so therefore there are now only five teams in Division 3B.
Quite a few sides have had to concede in the AH Cup first round for various reasons.
This w
eek had many matches that were close, some going to the last ball.
In Division One the champions lost at Horseheath and promoted Helions won at Haverhill. In Division Two there were wins for Brockley and Ashdon.
In Division 3A promotion favourites Great Yeldham lost to Wratting Lions in a very tight game.
In 3B Sawston showed why they have been invited to play in a higher division.
DIVISION ONE
Haverhill lost to Helions Bumpstead by five wickets.
Helions won off the last ball on a night dominated by the batsmen. Dan Poole (70) and Simon Youngs (36no) scored for the home side and Chris Raynor (49) and Neil Winter (53) for the visitors
Weston Colville 120 lost to Abington 121-3 by seven wickets.
Abington secured the win with a ball to spare, Simon Bishop undefeated on 31 for the visitors who earlier in the field had Stuart Duquemin 4-20 and skipper Martin Little 4-23 as the top bowlers on the night.
Horseheath 130-6 beat Babraham 105-8 by 25 runs.
Bad start for the defending champions as Horseheath won comfortably with Mick Ketteridge (30), Martin Towers (3-28), Gary Ellis (34, 3-24). Dan Archer made 27 for Babraham.
DIVISION TWO
Thurlow 101-5 lost to Ashdon 105-3 by seven wickets.
David Hall was the difference between the two sides with 54no and 3-26 for Ashdon.
Brockley 117-5 beat Gestingthorpe 88 by 29 runs.
Joe Reed (32) and Mark Blackledge (35) got Brockley of a winning start as they look to regain their place in Division One.
DIVISION 3A
Hundon 115-9 lost to Acton 116-7 by three wickets.
Good performances from both sets of players with Acton coming out on top. Simon Holt (3-17), Ed Pickerin (3-7) and Bruce Workmanster (67) scored for the home side
Ashley Game (3-19), John Cole (4-1) and Steven Fisher (60no) lead the way for Acton as they look for a quick return to Division Two.
Great Yeldham 99 lost to Wratting Lions 100-7 by three wickets.
Excellent win for the Lions on the last ball with Jason Bentley (4-21) and Tony Steel (34no) on top for the Lions.
DIVISION 3B
Sawston 214-3 beat Mill Green 122-3 by 92 runs.
New boys Sawston soon showed they will be a force in the league with a dominating win over Mill Green.
Liam Flynn, Marc Pearson and Ben Benson all scored 31 but Simon Potgier was the top scorer with 71.
